Mosque in University Technology Petronas

When you pass by University Technology Petronas along Ipoh-Lumut Highway at night, the lighted up mosque that looked like The White House of United States appeared to be amazing & attarctive. It is even more charming when captured with it's reflection on the lake.

An Afternoon at Sekinchan Beach

Staying at inland city, sitting at the beach watching the sea and enjoying the breeze is not something I can do everyday. During last weekend, I drive two and half hours crossing state to this famous little town in Selangor, Sekinchan, to enjoy a relaxing and lazy afternoon.

Although the beach does not have silky smooth sand & crystal clear water, the scene is still attractive. The wave is hitting the beach softly. I can hear the sound of wind in this peaceful condition.

Fishing boats start returning to the jetty around 4pm. This must be another tiring day for the fishermen.

The Little Town Gopeng

Gopeng is a small town located about 20km to the south of Ipoh. Just like Ipoh, it was also established on tin mining industry during the end of 19th century. Nowadays Gopeng is just a small & peaceful town after the collapse of tin mine industry in year 1986. The Federal trunk road (Federal Route 1) of Peninsula Malaysia is crossing the town center. Old shops are lining up along the two sides, standing silently for a century & facing the change of the world.

A Day in Teluk Intan

Teluk Intan is a major town located at south west of Perak State. It is formerly known as Teluk Anson (Anson Bay). The town is surrounded by the Perak River at 3 sides in a U-shaped curve. The town is famous of its leaning clock tower which was built in year 1885.

After visiting the Leaning Clock Tower, we proceed to a traditional restaurant, Teck Kee, which serves nice food, such as “chee cheong fun”, desert & Chinese cuisine. The shop is located at Jalan Raja, with its 2 ends crossing with Jalan Pasar & Jalan Ah Cheong. The shop’s interior is decorated with classical furniture. Among those I like the old photos of Teluk Intan town very much.

We took some time driving around the town. Before leaving, we follow some small signboards & found the famous Tiger Head brand cookies (Sin Joo Heong confectionery). For sure we have to bring back some of these tasty local snack.

Not far from the shop, we reached the river bank of Perak River. The trip ended after taking some photos of the river. It was heavy rain on our way back, especially when reaching Kampung Gajah.

Former Tin Mine Lake

Kinta Valley used to be the world's largest tin mining area since the end of 19th century. After the economy crisis in late 1980's, most of the tin mines in Kinta Valley were closed. However, some of those have been transformed to golf course or recreation park. This is one of those at Batu Gajah.

Parit Clock Tower

Parit is a small town about 30km from Ipoh, which located beside the Perak River. I was planning to have Hainan noodle as my lunch in Parit but the shop was closed. By the way, I managed to take a snap on the landmark of the town, the clock tower at the center of main road. It was built on 31 August 1957, the Independence Day of Federation of Malaya.

Fraser Hill

A very nice & relaxing place to spend your holiday. This is The Smoke House of Fraser Hill. I enjoy so much the cool weather, scenic view & peaceful life here. It is so pleasure to have the very English style afternoon tea break while enjoying the breeze with the birds singing in the garden.
